Hampton at the Hampton Small Boats Head

3 December 2007

LAST  WEEKEND  AT  THE  BOAT  CLUB

Hampton School Boat Club held their annual Small Boats Head last weekend.  This year’s event had the largest entry ever, with over 615 crews descending on Hampton’s stretch of the river for the 3km Head Race.

This event is primarily run by staff from the Boat Club and before we mention the fantastic Hampton results, I feel it is appropriate to thank them for staging such a successful, safe and enjoyable Head – not an easy task!

Particular thanks go to Mr Double (event organiser) for the numerous hours spent before and after the event making sure the day ran smoothly.

The Hampton athletes did not disappoint their coaches either, with some fantastic and very encouraging performances by everyone including a very promising 2nd place from our Junior 15 quad.  However, special congratutions should go to the following A-Squad boys:

Francis Highton / Nick Fulton – Won Junior 17 coxless pairs (also the fastest pair of the day)

James Manfield / Aidan Packer – Won Junior Pairs

Max Thomas / Tom Perry – Winners of Junior 17 doubles

Francis Highton – Second in Junior 17 singles

I should be grateful if these athletes could come and collect their medals / trophies.
