In the Regional Final of the HMC Foursomes played at St. Georges Hill G.C on Tuesday Hampton beat Dulwich College 3 - 0. Hampton will once again be competing in the National Final against the other seven regional winners . The Final will take place from July 10 - 12 at the Worcestershire G.C.
In last year's National Final Hampton caused a major upset by defeating Millfield in the Semi Final, a team that had not previously lost to another school team for eight years. Unfortunately, Hampton lost narrowly in the Final. The team has now reached this National Final seven times in the last eight years.
The Hampton team consists of the following players:
1st Pair Jake Collis and Dan Solomon
2nd Pair Oliver Donaldson and Billy Fowles
3rd Pair Tom Caldwell and Chris Neale
The players from the first two pairs will all be representing Middlesex Schools at the South of England Golf Championships to be played at Canterbury G.C during half-term. These players will also be part of the School Team which will compete in an International Schools Golf Competition at Sun City in South Africa in August.
Billy Fowles won the Open Scratch Competition at the recent Schools County Championships. His winning margin was six shots, he was the only player to post a sub par round on the day. He is the youngest ever winner and follows in the footsteps of other former Hampton pupils who have previously won this event, Paul Casey was the winner in 1991. Oliver Donaldson was Runner Up in the Under 16 Scratch Championship.
Hampton also collected the Team Champions Cup, again winning by a healthy margin. The team comprised : Oliver Donaldson, Billy Fowles and Dan Solomon. [ Jake Collis was unavailable because he was playing in the English Schools National Final at Trentham G.C.]
Hampton now go forward to the English Schools’ Championships to be played at John O’Gaunt G.C on August 2 nd and 3 rd.
