Hampton School's first ever Website was created in the academic year 1998/1999 with the help of pupils at the School.

The Second version was again designed by pupils in 2000 and has served us well over the last 5 years.

Although we had a lot of positive feedback about our previous Website, technology has moved on and problems appeared on some browsers. We therefore took into consideration all the feedback we had received and decided to look into redesigning it.

The new Website was designed by Stewart Hill, Art Teacher and in-house graphic designer, and Joanne Iredale, Website Manager, who also updates the Website on a daily basis. We then employed the services of Assanka, a company set up by three of our Old Hamptonians; Andrew Betts. Rowan Beentje and Robert Shilston (who was also involved with the creation of our first Website) to render the site.

The fact that the Website is updated by a full time member of staff enables us to get up to date information to you as soon as possible. There will, however, be occasions when it is not possible to have the most recent information posted. If in any doubt, we do strongly recommend that you telephone the School to double check.*

The creation of this Website has been an enormous job due to the wealth of information it contains, but we hope that we have succeeded in designing a new Website which has improved all the elements you liked about the old one, whilst at the same time adding brand new features.

New features to our Website include:

• A new address: www.hamptonschool.org.uk - much easier to remember!
• A new look homepage with brand new photographs.
• A new colour coded navigation menu. All pages also show the title of the section you are in across the top and down the side to prevent you from getting 'lost' in the Site.
• A brand new Virtual tour, with pictures off all the new areas of the School, right up to the latest build in the Summer of 2005 .
• A Search Engine and A to Z index. If you can't find what you are looking for, try using one of these features.
• News about the School's 450th Anniversary. Information will appear here first.

Technical information

Navigation: We hope that you will find the Website easy to navigate around. Please use the 'back' button on your browser where necessary.

Text Size: Is the text too small? You can now adjust the text size by going to 'view' - 'text size' in your browser and make the text larger (or smaller if you like) without affecting the navigation of the site.

Screen resolution: As many of our visitors use an 800 x 600 screen, we have designed it to that size. Those of you with larger screens will see a blank space around the edge. As screen sizes get bigger, we will try to change our site accordingly.

Browser compatibility: The Website has been tested on many types of popular browsers. People using older MAC browsers may see some features slightly differently. If you think something is not quite right, please let us know what the problem is and what browser you are using and we'll try and have look at it.

Adobe Acrobat Reader: We have several pdf documents within our Website. If you are unable to view them, you will need to download the free software Adobe Acrobat reader.
