Hampton School
A message from the Head of Second Year: Mr T P Cooper
01 September 2009
Dear Second Year Parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome your son to his Second Year at Hampton School and to introduce myself as Head of Year. I am looking forward to what should be an exciting and productive time.
If you would like to speak to us about your son, the first point of contact would normally be his Form Tutor, who will forward information to me as necessary. If, of course, you feel that I need to be contacted directly, then please do not hesitate to email me at school. For your information, the Second Year Form Tutors are:
2B Mr J Partridge (with Ms C Gilfillan)
2H Mr J Talman
2J Miss J Glasson
2L Mr M Nicholson (with Mrs L Rawstorne)
2P Miss H Moore
Mr Partridge and Mr Nicholson are also Assistant Heads of Year. Mr Partridge has responsibility for forms 2B, 2J & 2P and Mr Nicholson oversees 2H and 2L. Ms C Gilfillan and Mrs L Rawstorne will be ‘shadowing’ Mr Partridge in 2B and Mr Nicholson in 2L respectively. Both are experienced teachers who will have much to contribute to their allocated forms.
You will have an opportunuity to meet your son’s new Form Tutor at the Second Year Pastoral Forum on Thursday 17 September in the Alexander Centre. This will follow a similar format to the First Year Pastoral Forum and I have attached a letter with more details.
You should soon receive this term’s School Calendar from your son which details all of the School activities this term. You will see that every Second Year pupil has an opportunity to visit Hampton Court Palace as well as going to the Natural History Museum on Tuesday 10 November. The Literary Character Day in aid of Form Charity takes place on Wednesday 7 October. This is when Second Years have the opportunity to come to school dressed as a character from any children’s book. This has always been a popular event, so something to think about over the next few weeks!
This year the Junior Christmas Play is ‘Grimms Fairytales’ and will take place towards the end of term. There are of course the usual sports’ practices and clubs which take place at lunchtime and I will be encouraging all Second Year pupils to participate in at least one co-curricular activity this term so that they get the most out of their time here.
I hope your son enjoys his Second Year at Hampton and that he will work to the best of his ability. I shall obviously monitor his progress throughout the year, as well as behaviour of course, and will endeavour to inform you of anything I think you ought to know.
I look forward to meeting you at the Second Year Pastoral Forum or at some point during the year.
Yours faithfully
T P Cooper
Head of Second Year
