This year the busy programme of visits to local primary schools has involved over 100 boys from the Fourth Year upwards. They visit four local schools: Buckingham School and Clarendon School in Hampton, and Crane Park School and Forge Lane School in Hanworth.
Boys visit these during lunchtimes, and each member of the Lower Sixth also does a placement in one of them as part of his General Studies course. Hampton students are also much involved with the local branch of the charity Barnardo’s, assisting with a fortnightly activity club for children with special needs in Hounslow on Saturday mornings. This year we have also been developing links both with Oldfield House, a special referral unit for state school pupils in Hampton area, and with Lindon Bennett School for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties in Hanworth. In October our boys joined with the girls from LEH to offer a “Splash and Gym” afternoon for children with special needs. In March, Hampton organised a joint visit to the Science Museum with children with moderate learning difficulties from our neighbours, Clarendon School. We also co-hosted the Christmas Party for 200 senior citizens at LEH. The SHINE Saturday school for Gifted and Talented students from six local Primary schools ran very successfully for thirteen weeks from November to March.
essons were given by Hampton School staff in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Art, French & DT and involved thirty-four youngsters supported by five Sixth Formers. Twenty-two Lower Sixth Formers took part in a joint Hampton-LEH Peer Mentoring scheme to assist Teddington School students gain improved GCSE grades in English and Mathematics. 2P and 2W officiated at the Richmond Borough Primary Schools’ Indoor Athletics Championships held in our Sports Hall in April. 2P went on to officiate at the Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships at St Mary’s University in June. Hampton hosted pupils from Clarendon School on six Friday afternoons during the summer term, offering Rock Climbing, Athletics and Cricket coaching.
