Debating is an increasingly popular extracurricular activity at Hampton. Debates are held every Thursday of the Autumn and Spring terms at 1.05pm in the Lecture Theatre and are attended by an average of fifty boys from most year groups. Motions address a range of topical motions and debates are chaired by boys.

Several boys also compete at national level in the Oxford Union, Cambridge Union and Observer Mace competitions.
