Hampton School
The Music Society exists to support the Music Department by helping with concerts, and providing financial help for special projects. In the recent past, the Music Society has purchased a good quality viola to support the Schools extensive chamber music programme, a cor anglais for orchestral use and has largely funded the purchase of a beautiful harpsichord. In the last year the Society has funded the purchase of a new grand piano, tubular bells, and elegant music folders for the Swing Band. We are currently building a fund to kit out our future performing arts centre: the 450th Hall. Joining the Society brings a number of benefits to members: the opportunity to meet other musicians parents and members of the music staff; some tokens for free drinks at concerts, a twice-yearly newsletter and reserved seats at the front of most concerts. We are also planning to have a social event for Music Society members only at the end of the school year.
The Music Society is run by a committee but we always welcome help from members. The most valuable contribution members make is supporting the schools music by coming to the various concerts organized during the year. The benefits to the Music Department from the Music Society are substantial but could greatly increase in scope with a wider membership. If all parents whose sons had music lessons at school were members of the Music Society, we could buy a new piano every year!
