The ICT Curriculum

ICT is taught as a discrete subject in years 7,8, 9 & 10 and is complemented by a cross-curricular programme developed in partnership between the ICT Department and other curriculum subjects.
Hampton School is a certified ECDL training centre.

Current ICT courses

First Year (Yr 7) & Second Year (Yr 8) -  The key modules are taught using cross-curricular projects, tasks and scenarios. A basic level of attainment needs to be achieved. Extension and further development of skills are built into the course.

Third & Fourth Year (Yr 9, 10) – ECDL
The ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) is an internationally recognised qualification – respected by industry and education a like.
The seven key modules are taught through a range of tasks which allow the students to develop their skills and understanding of generic ICT software.

  • Basic Concepts in Information Technology
  • Using a computer and Managing Files - Windows Explorer
  • Word processing - Word/ Mail Merge
  • Spreadsheets - Excel
  • Databases - Access
  • Presentations - PowerPoint
  • Information and Communication - effective and safe use of the Internet

Assessment for this course is 100% online – students get feedback straight away – result + corrections.
Lower Sixth (Yr 12)
All Students

AS part of the General Studies course the boys undertake an intensive 10 week course on ICT covering core ICT skills as well as furthering their skills with a number of challenging tasks and cross curricular exercises. This course has been designed to make sure the boys reach a level equivalent to Keyskills Level 3 - there final assessment is based on current Keyskills Level 3 external exam papers.
