Over 560 boys and girls braved the freezing conditions at the weekend, to take part in the Head which is the biggest event of its kind in the country.
Hampton School had some great results in the competition with the J16 Squad coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the J16 pairs category; they actually had seven pairs in the top ten!
The J15 quads finished 1st and 3rd with their J15 double finishing 2nd.
The J18’s had 3rd and 4th places in J18 pairs and as did the J17’s in their pairs event. Sebastian Gordon-Smith was the quickest Hampton single sculler finishing 4th in the J17 singles.
Hampton’s Director of Rowing Colin Greenaway said it was a great occasion:
“643 crews, from Glasgow to Southampton and Cardiff across to Norwich, took part in the Head. Everyone had a great time and we saw some superb races in the icy conditions. I would like to thank the outstanding team of teachers, coaches and helpers from the Hampton School Boat Club who ensured everything went so smoothly on the day”
