Hampton School Music Society
The Music Society exists to support the Music Department by helping with concerts, and providing financial support for special projects. Members receive a regular newsletter, early notice of ticket sales, and occasional social events are arranged. >>Visit the Music Society’s website
Wednesday 22 September Lunchtime Concert
450 Hall 1.00 p.m.
Robbie Stanley-Smith (OH) performs Walton’s Cello Concerto accompanied by Alan Jones. Robbie will be playing this concerto with Cambridge University Music Society Symphony Orchestra in October.
Thursday 23 September New Parents’ Music Reception
450 Hall Foyer 7.30 p.m.
This is an opportunity to meet Music Department staff and parent members of the Music Society. Brief talks about music at Hampton and performances by some of the School’s musicians.

This year’s annual Chamber Music Course will run at School from 10.00 a.m. each day.

A concert showcasing the School’s vocal talent, with solo performances and contributions from all the School’s vocal ensembles.
Thursday 11 November Consort of Voices sings Choral Evensong
Merton College Chapel, Oxford 6.15 p.m.
The Consort of Voices, the School’s pre-eminent choir, celebrates Choral Evensong.
Friday 12 November Clarinet Class
Music Hall 4.15 – 6.00 p.m.
A performance class for all clarinet pupils.
Sunday 14 November Choral Society First Rehearsal
450 Hall 2.30 – 4.30 p.m.
The Joint Choral Society will be hosted by Hampton this year. The concert will be on Saturday 19 March, 2011 in the 450 Hall. We will be performing Brahms Eindeutches Requiem. All welcome, no auditions. See below for rehearsal schedule.

RodionShchedrin Piano Concerto No. 4 (‘Sharp Keys’) is performed by Olli Mustonen, and Mahler Symphony No. 1 is conducted by Valery Gergiev.
Saturday 27 November St Cecilia’s Day Concert

A dinner in honour of the patron saint of music provides an occasion for the School’s senior musicians to perform. Ticket information to follow.

Thursday 9 December Grand Christmas Concert I
450 Hall 7.30 p.m.
This year, our annual spectacular spreads over two evenings. This first concert includes the Hampton ensembles for younger members of the School, and every member of the First Year singing in the First Year Choir. Great entertainment! Join us for carols accompanied by the orchestra, plus wine and mince pies in the interval, included in the modest ticket price.
Friday 10 December Grand Christmas Concert II
450 Hall 7.30 p.m.
The School’s more senior ensembles take the stage for our second concert, with solo performances from some of our most advanced musicians, and the Symphony Orchestra. More carols, wine and mince pies, all included in the ticket price. Proceeds from both concerts support the Music Department through the good offices of the Music Society.
Tuesday 14 December Festival of Readings and Carols

All are welcome to join this traditional service of lessons, hymns and carols led by the School Choir. Always a special occasion, make a point of joining us this year.
